Has Christmas Spirit Returned in 2021? A List of Christmas Parades & Festivities

After 2020, a year of canceling everything, including public Christmas festivities, local communities around Northeast Wisconsin are ready to invite the community back to the streets of local downtowns. There’s numerous opportunities to feel the Christmas spirit, here they are in order:

Oshkosh

Oshkosh, WI Thursday Nov 18th – In Oshkosh there is a tree lighting and parade Downtown. Live music and tree lighting will take place from 5-6:00 p.m. in Opera House Square. Parade starts at the intersection of Ceape and North Main Street at 6:15pm. The parade will be marshaled by UW Oshkosh Chancellor Andy Leavitt and his wife Karen in honor of the university’s 150 year anniversary. The proceedings will head north to the intersection of Irving and North Main Street.  The theme for the parade is Holiday Classic.

Green Bay

Green Bay, WI Saturday Nov 20th – Green Bay is hosting its 37th annual Christmas parade Downtown in the morning from 10am to 11am. The route starts at Jefferson and Stuart, running north on Jefferson, west on Cherry and south on Washington Street. The theme is Holiday Magic and you can find FREE parking in the Pine, Cherry, and Main Street parking ramps and all nearby city streets.

Appleton

Appleton, WI Tuesday Nov 23rd – In Appleton you will find the 50th Downtown Appleton Christmas Parade. The parade starts at 7:00 p.m. on College Avenue from State Street, moving East to Drew Street. According to the City of Appleton website, “The Downtown Appleton Christmas Parade is the largest nighttime parade in the Midwest.” In the past drawing around 80,000 attendees. This year’s theme is “Superhero Christmas” and parade marshal is longtime local journalist Erin Davisson.

Sheboygan

Sheboygan, WI Sunday Nov 28th – The Jaycees Holiday Parade starts at 5:00 pm. Beginning at Center Avenue and 7th Street, goes north on 7th Street to Erie Avenue, goes west on Erie Avenue to 8th Street, goes south on 8th Street, and ends at Mead Public Library for the Tree Lighting Ceremony.

Neenah

Neenah, WI Friday Dec 3rd – At Neenah’s new plaza in addition to ice skating you will find Santa. At 6:15pm there will be a tree lighting ceremony at Gateway Park and a list of other Downtown activities for their A Very Neenah Christmas event.

Freedom

Freedom, WI Saturday Dec 4th – The 27th Annual Freedom Christmas Parade will take place at 6pm starting at Freedom High School West Parking lot and heading to Tralee Lane.

It’s great to see the Christmas festivities returning. There are many more events to explore around the region and we found many are not posted on Facebook, so make sure to ask around and share your local events with your friends and family.
